THE BOOK OF REVELATION

MUST IT ONLY REVEAL THE FUTURE; OR,
CAN IT ACTUALLY REVEAL SOME OF THE PAST—

The Thinker

Why is it that so many people seem to think that the book of Revelation was recently written with everything to happen in the future no matter when it is read 1803,1903 or 2016?

Although many times in the New Testament Jesus Himself tells us “FEAR NOT” still at Easter Time people have asked me to please not remind them of Jesus’ eminent return BECAUSE THEY FEAR THE END TIMES as described either by the book of Revelation or by their church’s teaching. Let’s be clear, they don’t fear Jesus, they fear what they think will happen BEFORE Jesus comes.

That set me to some serious thinking and made me question two things: (a) was Revelation written ‘yesterday’; (b) what is the real meaning of the word revelation or ‘to reveal’.

The Thinker

Let’s simply look at the word REVELATION. Does it always mean something is to come? No, not necessarily. For instance:

I was given a vision of the pomp and ceremony that often accompanies the unveiling of a work of art. Think of a chiseled or bronzed work of art; or it could be a portrait long in the making by a famous artist. Yes, there is a feeling of expectation of what you are about to see as the work is suddenly ‘REVEALED’ to you — and in this it case is a COMPLETED WORK LONG IN THE MAKING by Master Artists.

OBSERVATION: a Revelation is often something which has been revealed, it can be a completed work. The work long in the making is completed only to be revealed at a certain time.
There may be a future revelation: for instance you may find it on your refrigerator in the form of a ‘save the date’ announcement, or revealing, of a marriage to take place. That is a revelation of an event to come.
However, we should not think that every event in the Book of Revelation is a future event as if the book were just written yesterday.

Fact: the Holocaust has already taken place. However if the book of Revelation were written 2,000 years ago, it would have been a future event at the time it was written. If it were read in the 700’s, 800’s, 1700’s or the 1800’s it would be a future event, but when read in the 21st Century it is a past event. Please be certain on this: I’m not making any statement here, I’m inviting what it could be and I’m offering reasoning on why that could be.

OBSERVATION: Have no fear of the end times; Take heart, we may be much further ahead in the Revelation of end times than many think we are.  The Book of Revelation was written over 2,000 years ago; it was not written yesterday.

I feel it has previously been shown to me that the 144,000 have already come and gone from the earth. The mistake most people make is in thinking that they are full grown men. If that is the case they would have to be perfect men, since that is a qualifier, (Rev. chapters 7 & 14) and that is impossible. It is impossible for anyone to be perfect. The Bible says that ALL HAVE SINNED and fall short of the Glory of God (Romans 3:23). Jesus Christ was the only perfect ‘man’, and He is God come in the flesh for us to see that God is real. No other man can be without sin; Yet, some Seminary teachers think that it is possible for 144,00 grown men to be perfect all at once. I say: impossible. For further explanation of why I think that the 144,000 have already come and gone from the earth – please look for that topic in the far right column or go to the rhttp://www.TheProverbs120Column.org.

bible-search It is considered that the number could actually be the number of sinless Jewish male babies killed in the time of Moses in the OT combined with those sinless Jewish male babies killed in the time of King Herod in the NT; making the final number “…unto God and unto the Lamb…” as described in Revelation chapters 7 and 14. You will be able to find even further backing for this theory regarding the Holy Innocents at this site under the listing 144,000.

CONCLUSION:

Must It Only Reveal The Future; Or,
Can It Actually Reveal Some Of The Past—
—-Or Both ?

I Think It Is Both. We are told to rightly divide the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15}. This could rightly apply to Revelation.

And I will close with the opening line:

Why is it that so many people seem to think that the book of Revelation was recently written with everything to happen in the future no matter when it is read 1803,1903 or 2016?
