Jesus Calls People Some Not Very Nice Things…As Does Trump
Both Jesus and Trump call people some not very nice things: Trump is in good company metaphorically.
– by Mary A. LaClair
We hear much worse in our daily lives than we’ve heard this week from Trump. (1/10/18) Trump is human. Do we reject Jesus because He called religious leaders ‘broods of snakes’ and even ‘fools’, NO ! Because Jesus was right in doing so, and because He has too much else to offer. So does Trump ! You should not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Jesus also said: beware those who strain at gnats and swallow camels !
Who would be so self-righteous so as to say they don’t use derogatory speech when they deem it necessary to emphasize a point? He made his point – the leaders of poor countries who don’t, and won’t, take care of their own as they live in luxury, are indeed ‘brood of snakes’ …or worse. I stand with Trump.
Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees “fools, hypocrites, blind guides, whited sepulchers, murderers, a generation of snakes. He called men dogs and pigs, and children of the devil (John 8:44), men full of dead men’s bones.
Matt 7:6
6 “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces. NIV
Luke 13:31-32
31 At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to him, “Leave this place and go somewhere else. Herod wants to kill you.” 32 He replied, “Go tell that fox,…NIV
Matthew 15:26 “it is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”
Trump knows that this fits America.
God does not love everyone unconditionally, and neither should we, and neither should Trump!
God has a special love for the redeemed which does not apply in its fullness to the unregenerate. God detests the wicked and Heaven is not promised to them. Let us not lose sight of that. Are the leaders of poor countries wicked when they keep their people poor and do not run their countries properly, to the betterment of their own citizens? I think so, and apparently Trump thinks so. God is angry every day against the wicked, and justly so. Do I mind if Trump uses everyday vernacular to describe those whom he thinks ‘wicked’, no, I do not mind at all. He sees something too many others are too willing to ignore. There is a wrath of God, and there is a wrath of Trump; Trump’s wrath is nothing compared to God’s wrath. Let us not lose track of that.
Do we reject Jesus because He called religious leaders vipers, dogs and bad fruit, NO ! Because Jesus was right in doing so, and because He has too much else to offer. So does Trump !
